Lils has reminded me that results for the One Perfect Spring Day were due to be released today. Big apologies to the contestants, it has slipped my mind in all the free2play news. I’ll get right on this and correct my oversight. Silly Radish!

Snippet 1: One of the most interesting items available to dimensioneers that PvP is the Inert Sourcestone from the Warfront Herald achievement. These items provide a quest to give guardian and defiant sourcestones on a daily basis. The Guardian sourcestone has been available for a while now on Faeblight and Deepwood. Recently Kiwimidget found a source for the Defiant sourcestone on Deepwood.
On Faeblight, you’ll find the Guardian sourcestones at ‘Baerack’s Beer and Bait’ by Mobile Death Squad. On Deepwood, No Shame Gaming have the Guardian sourcestone in ‘<NSG> Playground’ and the only known Defiant sourcestone is available from Aldy in ‘Strozza Estate Villa’. Give these dimensions a +1 as you pass through to thank them for their consideration. Continue Reading
I thought I’d share this post I just wrote on the Rift forums with you. It makes a few interesting points about many things but most especially about the real cost of the new dimension items in terms of hours to grind the platinum. The forum thread can be found here, post is on page 10.
My opposition is towards making building pieces and small, non-unique-feeling items cost 100s and 1000s of plat in the store. That’s it. 5 plat for a building piece? Nope, no sympathy from me, as you can make 5 plat within an hour of gameplay max. Hell, I get it from a few quick daily quests, for example. You need 100s? Well there you go, that’s your endgame. Go do your endgame grind like everyone else.
Welcome to every other part of the game, if you ever want to do everything you wanted in it. Want top PvE endgame? Want top PvP stats and leaderboards? Want as many fish as you could ever want (without bots *cough Trion*)?
….Want to build a dimension as big and as elaborate and awesome as you wanted? Continue Reading
With all the doom and gloom about dimension item prices, I thought we’d take a break today to look at all the good things coming in patch 2.3.
One good thing is the new dimension items. Our new selection of items are colourful, stylish and versatile. My favourite new addition is the Magitech Orrery (video below). This device accurately represents the positions of the planets and moons of the Telaran solar system. I know the orrery is accurate because I measured the planetary orbits with my Orphiel’s Planar Telescope. Both the orrery and telescope are impressive, they move, they’re magitech and I could easily see people laying down moderate sums of cash for them. Continue Reading
I thought that might catch your attention. Patch 2.3 has landed on the Public Test Shard and I spent today having a good rummage around. First off, we have two new dimensions, Hailol and Temple of the Abandoned. Second, the sheer number of dimension items is overwhelming. Wondered why we’ve had no new items to speak of for the last few months? They’re all here for us to buy with cash. Continue Reading
WARNING: INFORMATION DISCUSSED HERE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
TAKE WITH A PROVERBIAL GRAIN OF SALT
In the Friday livestream on TwitchTV, Trion gave us our first in-depth look at the free2play cash shop and some of the changes coming our way.
With the advent of patch 2.3 and free2play, there will be lots of new dimension stuff added to the game. New dimensions, new dimension items, dimension achievements, multiple dimension slots for each toon and the frequently requested increase in item slots for existing dimensions.
Some of these new items and services will be available for both money and platinum, some through credits only and some via the loyalty programme also being introduced with free2play. It was said that some dimensions will only be available through the loyalty programme.
How is free2play going to affect the dimension community? I bet that’s the big question on your mind, I know it’s the big question on mine.
Introducing a cash shop as the revenue raiser means items that tempt players to buy them will be the main priority of development. Dimension goodies are potentially big sellers. I can see a market for dimensions, dimension items and extra item slots for dimensions. The dimensions and items acquired through the cash shop are likely to be interesting and high quality. We pay $15 dollars a month now for our dimension goodies; under a well designed cash shop, we should be able to satisfy our dimension cravings for a similar amount. Some months we might pay more, other months less. Continue Reading
When I started this blog, I never imagined what the 100th post would be like, it seemed an impossibly long time away. Time gallops by and here we are, 100 posts later, still going strong.
The first post was made on November 28, a fortnight after the release of Storm Legion. I didn’t publicize much the first few days, rather I built up a history of articles for visitors to read. It wasn’t until I posted the article on Sky Projectors that I started the advertising campaign. Ah that was a thrilling time. I’d check the statistics every few hours just to see if someone had visited. Continue Reading
A new dimension, Three Springs, has just appeared on the public test shard. As with Moonshade Pools, Three Springs can be purchased for 300 platinum and has a 1000 item limit. It incorporates the village of Three Springs (without the little houses) and the town hall, hollowed out for our use. Even better, it includes the bridge, the stairs down to the dock area and the flat land just above the dock where the solitary house stood. Three Springs is as large as Moonshade Pools; even better, it’s barrier on the waterfall side is exactly where Moonshade Pools finishes. What a shame we can’t nominate our favourite Moonshade dimension to ‘view’ across the way. Continue Reading
Once you have completed the artifact set for Circuit Diagram, you’ll need nine of ‘A Bar of Hair Covered Soap’ to purchase the book from Omi. The bars of soap are available from Arcanum Conservatory in Steppes of Infinity; nearest porticulum is Zerzala.
In the middle of the Conservatory, is a tunnel leading down, entrance at 15448, 7188. Take a left turn when the tunnel branches, it should lead to a water filled passage. Swim down the tunnel and keep going down, down, down. It is possible to get to the bottom in one breath. Continue Reading
