Caravans conjure up the very essences of footloose and fancy free.
Every so often, in my journeys through a shard or the Rift forums, I’ll see a dimension advertised who’s very name inspires curiosity. Wanderlust by Emerald@Greybriar is one of those dimensions who’s name foreshadows what we are about to see. Once inside, I just nodded my head and said “Of course, what else could it be?”
Wanderlust is a great example of terraforming a dimension. The usual contours of Sanguine Shores are unrecognisable. A terrace pool and some serious rockery transform the look of this place. The caravans are perfect, with everything needed for travel; comfortable and compact, oozing with charm. Continue Reading
Throne of the Tidelord. Tidelord’s Keep by Tidelord@Wolfsbane.
Well, well, well. I’ve heard a few interesting things from Trion in the past week or so.
Rumour 1: Prices are dropping next week. Daglar launched his little bombshell on this thread. It was confirmed by Faratha. Now, since it’s on a thread complaining about the price of dimension items, I’ve made the assumption it’s item prices not dimension key prices that will be dropping. No news on how much prices are dropping. Let’s hope we get more news before Wednesday, I’m not sure my nerves will hold out that long. Continue Reading
The crematorium where disappointed hopes go to die. OTG Retirement Community by Krugor@Greybriar.
It’s the last day of Summerfest and I can now safely say there are no new dimension items for this holiday. I’m both sad and glad of this. Glad because holiday currency was no longer commonly available, it only dropped from the end bosses of rifts and zone events. (Imagine trying to grind currency to buy dimension items at Carnival of the Ascended prices!) I’m sad because there was one less reason to get out in the world and play the game.
This patch, dimension item vendor prices dropped to 1 silver. I’m both sad and glad of this. Sad because the value of all my dimension items has been gutted in one foul blow. That this will cause the price of dimension items to drop on the auction house is a mixed blessing, it means fewer store purchased items listed as players no longer make a good profit from them, requiring us to purchase the items from the store. However, my guild (darling, adorable people they are) will now fill the dimension tabs of the bank with items from the dungeons and chronicles because the items have no value. I won’t need to run dungeons and chronicles for my dimension items. Continue Reading
Alpine road: Roads are great ways to add depth to a scene. Distance is given by steadily decreasing the width of a road till it disappears into the vanishing point. Halls of Shaping by Consortium@Zaviel
As one opportunity closes, another opens. I’m currently building another Halls of Shaping for the Consortium guild on Zaviel, Europe. The hardest part about designing another Halls of Shaping is not using themes and designs from the first one. Hopefully I’ll build something completely different but just as outstanding.
I wondered what to do the end of the Hall, that place where the invisible wall removes access to the rest of Hammerknell. At Faeblight, Feendish placed a metal gate to close off that end but still allow a view onwards. At Zaviel, I have taken inspiration from dimensioneer Eightynine’s murals and built an alpine road. The Dwarves built Hammerknell and and abandoned it, fleeing unspeakable horrors. The Ascended cleared the fortress of it’s restless undead, leaving the halls silent.
Nature abhors a vacuum and soon life poured into the empty spaces. With the influx of life came the Faekin, filling the empty spaces with laughter and industry. This is their story.
Amidst the ruined domes…
And glories of days past…
Life returned to fill the emptiness.
The Sagespire Tower looming in the gloom of Vengeful Sky. Lost and Forgotten Mage Tower by Balvin@Gelidra
First off, it seems my brain isn’t working properly at the moment and I’ve misread the patch notes. It’s not a new dimension being released but a new dimension item, the Sagespire Tower, complete with working elevator. I’m a bit disappointed ’cause I’d love to have the Sagespire Tower area in Scarswood as a dimension. Still the Sagespire Tower building is awesome sauce. There are limitations to a working elevator so the tower does not re-size, a loss I’m willing to accept for a greater gain. It also has the most amazing textures on both the interior and exterior wall. This is going to be a popular building.
Three Springs dimension and the Mossy Village Kit are being released on Wednesday (straight from Elrar’s fingers). They’re in the shop but not available for purchase until the 14th of August. This means the mossy buildings are staying in game for those who want to start building with them. It’s an odd way to introduce the new goodies, a test of our patience. All I can say is ‘Roll on Wednesday’ , there’s a lot of eager Three Springs buyers out there. Continue Reading
Towers and Super Jumps, oh my! Patch notes, released in error, hint at future dimension goodies.
Update, very late in an Aussie night: patch has gone live with all the oddities listed below. It seems we are getting a new dimension and toys.
Update: These are the patch notes for Hotfix #14.5. Maybe this odd patch with it’s errors is the official patch. NA shards should be updating overnight so I guess we’ll see then. My curiosity wants to know the cost and size of the Sagespire Tower dimension.
I logged into the European shards today and there were a set of interesting patch notes. Sagespire Tower, complete with it’s elevator, is in the works for release as a dimension. I’ve always thought this would make a good dimension and it was one of my suggestions to Trion back when they were asking about such things. For those that love to jump, the Jete’s Bouncemaster 5000 was also listed in the patch notes and can be found in the store for 540 credits only.
It was a strange patch for Europe, one that wasn’t scheduled for release. While the patch notes say Sagespire Tower was released, there is no sign of the key on the store. Three Springs was available on the store but did not have a price. Also on the store, under buildings, were the mossy buildings that go with the Three Springs dimension, though the Mossy Kit has no price. Sagespire Tower, the building, was also in the store for 1200 platinum or 765 credits. Continue Reading
Public toilets keep our public spaces nice to visit. ‘There’s Always A Queue’ by Radishing@Greybriar.
Sometimes an idea reaches up and grabs me, never to let go. My only option is to make it reality so the idea can slip from my mind. This happened with Feendish’s ‘Let’s Go Out Today’ competition for public spaces.
I was busily engaged in building the dimension for Blood Storm Troopers during this contest. With my mind preoccupied with other things, I couldn’t think of a good idea for this contest. I’d seen so many lovely and intriguing public buildings in dimensions, it seemed all the good ideas were already taken. Continue Reading
Ram skull head, 6 limbs and a mouth full of teeth are the defining characteristics of this bad guy.
I have finished the big project I was working on quietly. Halls of Shaping by Blood Storm Troopers@Faeblight, built by Feendish (Baradara) and I, is open for viewing and mostly finished. I say mostly because we’ve left room to insert new guild dimension items as the guild earns them. Of course, the only reason we’ve stopped building is because we’ve run out of items, there are still plenty of ideas and stories I’d love to tell. Continue Reading
