Sometimes an idea reaches up and grabs me, never to let go. My only option is to make it reality so the idea can slip from my mind. This happened with Feendish’s ‘Let’s Go Out Today’ competition for public spaces.
I was busily engaged in building the dimension for Blood Storm Troopers during this contest. With my mind preoccupied with other things, I couldn’t think of a good idea for this contest. I’d seen so many lovely and intriguing public buildings in dimensions, it seemed all the good ideas were already taken.
I’d already been making a public space in the Halls of Shaping using my little people, when it struck me that the one thing missing from that dimension were the public toilets. They’re a much under-appreciated part of public life, making all the other public places so much nicer to visit. Then I remembered that curious phenomenon that all husbands and boyfriends are familiar with – the wait for their ladies to go to the toilet. Thus ‘There’s Always A Queue’ was born.
I already had the little people from the Halls of Shaping, the toilets themselves were simple to build and within two days the dimension was done. If you’d like to visit you will find it under Radishing@Greybriar.
While you’re out and about, have a look at the winners for the ‘Let’s Go Out Today’ contest. They are great dimensions showing the best of design in public buildings. Happy dimension touring!
