Autumn has rolled around again for the northern hemisphere, bringing thoughts of Thanksgiving and Halloween, falling leaves and falling temperatures. When Nouvae of Dimension Gallery announced her Autumn Harvest giveaway, I wanted to build something for that. A quintessential Northern autumn was the inspiration, with themes of death and dying, the celebration of Halloween and Thanksgiving, all leading to my new dimension, Series 600: Autumn. Oh the news is all over the forums, the Dreamweaver profession is on the PTS for dimensioneers to test. While everyone else was oohing and ahhing over the amazing sights associated with dreamweaving, I braved Silverwood’s Instant adventures alone to discover if the expected Fae Yule dimension items were on the vendor.
I slogged through the Fae Yule Instant Adventures, along with my trusty corgi friends, and was rewarded by the appearance of Eli Wyllyce at the Fae Yule village outside Sanctum. He is carrying the goodies we can expect on the live shards after the patch tomorrow. Continue Reading
October was the month of hauntings, at least at my place. Strangely flickering lights, power failures, blurry vision, exploding ovens. I’m haunted by a poltergeist! I’ve replaced my oven, my glasses, several light bulbs, internet cables and, after a series of odd power blackouts, the house fuse. Of all of these, the oven was the hardest to fix. I spent many days and take-away meals researching the new-fangled technology that comprises the modern stove. Both the stove and the house fuse were over 50 years old. I suppose, after that long, they deserve an early retirement.
For other people, October means spooky, creepy, spidery and orange. I wondered what scary themes people are building in the newly released Deepwood Cottage, so I toured the shards, looking for the best representations of Halloween. Continue Reading
The fall season has arrived, Atrophinious still loves his mead and the Realm of the Autumn Harvest is open to all. This year we’ll be hunting for autumn harvest ambersap and autumn harvest signets.
First the bad news, The Halloween goodies boxes mentioned earlier no longer cost 90 credits; in translation from the PTS, the Pumpkin Patch kit increased to 229 credits and the Spider’s Den Kit to 297 credits each. The token price remains the same. Continue Reading
Trion have heard our pleas about the hard yakka* for Carnival of the Ascended and removed the grind for dimension items for Summerfest. Now, before you all go cheering, Trion have done this by excluding dimension items in the list of goodies available for holiday currency, at least for this phase.
Were you looking forward to getting out there and defeating a few invasions, closing a few rifts and decimating a few dozen bosses for holiday currency? Don’t give up hope and don’t spend your Summerfest currency, Trion may very well introduce the dimension items for phase two. Continue Reading
Every day I learn something new. For instance, the day after I published ‘Carnival of The Ascended Brings Dimension Goodness‘ I learned, Sonali and Lils are not the same person. While Lils may indeed be making a carnival themed dimension, it is not ‘Country Fair’ and Sonali is not Lils’ alt. A humble Radish apologises to both for the mix up. ‘Country Fair’ is Somali’s first foray into dimensions. That’s a very good beginning to her dimension career. Wandering around the fair is like being locked in a fairground after the show has closed. Everything’s still and lifeless, just needing a crowd to revive it. Yes, that is a hint to go visit.
Speaking of Lils, she has joined my guild, Silky Venom. They are recruiting raiders looking for a more informal raiding situation. Check out the guild’s website if you’re looking for a medium sized, semi-casual raiding guild that has learned to tolerate dimension-mad radishes. Welcome to Silky Venom, Lils, hope you find it a comfortable home. Continue Reading
Today brings phase one for the Carnival of the Ascended. This was such a fun event last year and I’m anticipating more fun this year, with new pets, gear, mounts and, most of all, dimension items. The dimension items themselves are all carnival related, from party lights, floats, even a pageant runway. There are three types of vendors selling dimension items this event, the Ascended Goods vendor, the Shady Goods vendor and the Carnival Prizes vendor. All can be found clustered with the other merchants but all vendors are not available in all carnival locals. This year the carnival can be found in Tempest Bay, by the docks, Sanctum, Meridian and Shimmersand. Continue Reading
So the day is here when I must pronounce the best Valentine dimension. There were four entries for Class 2, 500 items and the quality of entrants was excellent, making the choice difficult. I thought I’d go through and give y’all my thought processes on selecting the winner. I kept two thoughts in mind as I went through the list; 1. the theme for the competition was “Valentine’s Day, a day for evoking feelings of romance, love, desire and devotion” and 2. this is not an object morphing contest.
First I considered the theme of the contest. Kitasia’s gazebo (~Sweettart~ by Kitt@Deepwood) and it’s accompanying bench are crafted with much attention to detail. Flowery gazebos always invoke romance and Kitasia’s is the best I’ve seen. While stunning, unless the bench and gazebo are having a torrid affair, this dimension does not best represent the contest theme. Continue Reading
Welcome to our list of entrants for the Dimensions Challenge: Valentine’s Day. Four entries were received for the 500 item class so I will declare a winner for this section. Unfortunately, only one entry was received for the 200 item class so there will be no competition for this section.
The theme for this challenge is Valentine’s Day, a day for evoking feelings of romance, love, desire and devotion. Three entrants chose to go with the date as a basis for their presentation. I’m amazed how dimensions built around a similar theme have such different personalities. The fourth entrant has a simple message. “Take time to sit in beauty”. A message relevant to us all. My Valentine dimension is finished (Sweet Valentine by Toefluff@Greybriar). It’s themed around a Valentine’s Day date with music and dancing, dining and wining, dipping – skinny or otherwise – and a large, well padded couch. Built in Dolcega Valley, Sweet Valentine takes advantage of the pool to create water gardens, a boating pool and a hot tub.
In Synchronicity and the Clock, I said it was about time to learn Dimension Toolbox. Major parts of this dimension were built using Toolbox. Dimension Dude’s Sobek Clock video was that vital clue in figuring out some of the power locked away in Toolbox. The windows of Sweet Valentine would have been impossible without it. Continue Reading
