The most popular dimension in Rift with 4650 recommendations is New Eyecandy Spaceship Slide 4.0 by Cariina on Greybriar. It beats all other dimensions by more than a thousand votes and it’s popularity keeps growing.
Four years after the release of dimensions, the positions on top don’t change much. Once a dimension reaches the top three in the shard listings, they earn a few votes each week without the need for promotion by their owners, keeping their position on top safe.
The early years were different, the struggle to reach first position was fierce and filled with less savoury practices. When the suggestion to wipe votes appears on the forums these days, I wonder if the people doing so think it an opportunity to to put their own dimensions on top of the listing. If so, Eyecandy is an excellent example of the effort required to reach the top and stay there.

Boats made into a public space add a strong graphical element to the dimension.
As an Australian, my architectural heritage is firmly English with a scattering of U.S.A. Occasionally, a little bit of Asia may creep in but otherwise it’s very traditional. Travelling to the European shards, I encounter dimensions with heritages I’m less familiar with. It gives me an opportunity to explore how other cultures view public and private space albeit slightly warped by the builder’s imagination. RDD – Shao Dra by Atraius@Akala is one of those dimensions that hint at cultures beyond my experience. Continue Reading

Today, on the livestream event, community manager, Elrar, formally announced the winners of The Joy Of Dimensions contest. As each winner was announced, a tour was conducted of the winning dimensions In order from third to first place, we saw Enoki Lounge by Wry, Lavish Lyx by Lyx and Cozy Retreat by Kumberlin.
While the top two voted postions were not a surprise, third place was not the expected result. Somehow overnight, ~Sweethearts~ by Kitasia had dropped off third place to be replaced with Enoki Lounge. The reason for this became clear when ~Sweethearts~ was announced as the grand prize recipient.
Without further ado, lets meet the winners! Continue Reading
Ah, that elusive +1 recommending a dimension to the public. It seems that the more votes a dimension has, the more it receives, while equally excellent dimensions lower in the field struggle to be noticed. This regular series looks at the best a shard has to offer with one condition – the dimension is not already in the top 10 on the shard. Anyone can find the top 10 but ferreting out those lesser known gems for appreciation is a job for the incorrigible dimension-hopper.
I’ve picked the recommended dimensions for their style, innovation or entertainment value; they all have that elusive quality that made me go wow! This post, I recommend under-appreciated dimensions on my home shard of Greybriar. Continue Reading

There are currently 21 personal dimensions available in Rift and choosing the right dimension is an important decision for the dimensioneer. Much has changed with the release of Patch 2.3, the Dendrome. Now players can have up to ten dimensions on one toon, the first two dimension slots are free and the rest bought, and the item limit for all dimensions was doubled by the addition of a fifth tier. While, we now have greater choice and flexibility with dimensions, picking a dimension suitable for your long term purpose will save a lot of wasted platinum and energy. So what’s the best way to decide? Continue Reading
