Ah, that elusive +1 recommending a dimension to the public. It seems that the more votes a dimension has, the more it receives while equally excellent dimensions lower in the field struggle to be noticed. This regular series looks at the best a shard has to offer with one condition – the dimension is not already in the top 10 on the shard. Anyone can find the top 10 but ferreting out those lesser known gems for appreciation is a job for the incorrigible dimension-hopper.
I’ve picked the recommended dimensions for their style, innovation or entertainment value; they all have that elusive quality that made me go wow! This post, I recommend under-appreciated dimensions on Icewatch.
All these dimensions are worthy of more votes than they currently have, so if you can vote while visiting, give their owners a little ego boo with a +1. Happy dimensioning!
Ahilin’s Refuge By Ahilin
Breach Chamber lends itself well to decorating. The oval shape is easily divided into ‘rooms’ and vertical height makes a second floor a natural extension. Ahilin has build a comfortable and pretty home. Food is an important part of the dimension; the table is loaded with dishes and more in the kitchen. Two spiral staircases lead to an indoor garden and the bedroom with one of the nicest ensuites I’ve seen.
AREA Rifty-One by Soundtrack
Area Rifty-One by Soundtrack is outta this world. I love this dimension. The space ship sits in the already alien Vengeful Sky, each perfectly complimenting the other. An air sky projector contributes to the feel of an alien planet. Soundtrack has continued the theme with an equally eerie interior. It’s not hard to imagine alien probes in tender body parts while wandering around this ship.
Secret Garden by Beretta
The Secret Garden is not quite finished. I include it here because the garden is excellent. Beretta has managed to make the garden look natural while including enough interesting features to encourage exploration. A natural looking garden is no easy feat in a dimension. We don’t have quite enough differently textured and coloured filler plants to do the job. Mastering the art of clumping and scattering plants to form paths and glades is not a common skill. Enjoy the walk, watch the changing patterns of foliage and light and wait to see what might pop up around the next bend.
Welcome Home By Qaraelyn
Welcome Home, situated in Faen’s retreat, is an unit complex of four buildings. One of the buildings is open to display the kitchen and bedroom. There are some lovely features to this dimension, particularly the wall treatment in the bedroom. This is one dimension that makes me wish an increase in item limits was on the horizon, I’d love to see more open doors in this build.
Storm Haven By Aesha
Storm Haven takes advantage of Dormant Core’s height to take you on a journey through several structures. The entry point lands you in the fishing area, while a journey up the ladder takes you to more domestic dwellings. The real payoff is the home at the top of the Core, where Aeshia has cleverly incorporated the structure of Ember Watch into the house. The bold colours of the fishing items nicely complement the bright motifs decorating the ruins of Ember Watch and a touch of object morphing here and there add interest to the furnishings.
Barry’s Squallorous Hovel By Edgaron
So many dimensions are pristine, neat and organised like a show home. Barry’s Squallorous Hovel is not. This is a place very well lived in, untidy to the point of decrepitude. Dolcega Valley has never looked so … ummm … like a frat party just stormed through.
Apocalipstick by Apocalipstick
Never have plants been so gloriously loved as in Apocalipstick. Nurtured and allowed to run free, Stone Flask Tavern is now a haven for the vegetable set. I’m not sure what is happening with the rest of the dimension, just ignore it and go worship the plants inside the tavern. A botanist’s delight.
Thanks for sharing! I have seen many of these but I also see a couple I have missed and will visit on my next trip over!
Awesome finds. I need to roll an alt over there to check these out in pixel-person!
