Ferris wheels are a traditional place for sneeking kisses at the carnival. ‘Country Fair’ by Sonali@Deepwood
Every day I learn something new. For instance, the day after I published ‘Carnival of The Ascended Brings Dimension Goodness‘ I learned, Sonali and Lils are not the same person. While Lils may indeed be making a carnival themed dimension, it is not ‘Country Fair’ and Sonali is not Lils’ alt. A humble Radish apologises to both for the mix up. ‘Country Fair’ is Somali’s first foray into dimensions. That’s a very good beginning to her dimension career. Wandering around the fair is like being locked in a fairground after the show has closed. Everything’s still and lifeless, just needing a crowd to revive it. Yes, that is a hint to go visit.
Speaking of Lils, she has joined my guild, Silky Venom. They are recruiting raiders looking for a more informal raiding situation. Check out the guild’s website if you’re looking for a medium sized, semi-casual raiding guild that has learned to tolerate dimension-mad radishes. Welcome to Silky Venom, Lils, hope you find it a comfortable home.
The second week of Carnival of the Ascended is well underway, giving us all time to appreciate the huge grind for prize tickets and glass beads. For those who cannot grind for long hours, prioritising which dimension items, masks or pets we grind for is a must. My goal is to grind prize tickets for 2 parade floats while not neglecting glass beads along the way. While many of the pennants and banners are not as enticing, the carnival lights look like one of those items that will see a lot of use over the coming year. A warning for those not present last year, the pinatas did not last the entire event. They disappeared somewhere around phase 3 to 4, so if you’re grinding those for your beads don’t count on them toward the end of the event.

More carnival goodness. Drop in on Blood Carnival by Blood Storm Troopers@Faeblight and see some of the new carnival items.
I’m feeling overwhelmed by the cost of carnival items. I’m glad I received a Dead Fluffy for participating in the Codex testing on the PTS, at least I have one of the new pets. Trion’s big dilemma is that they must give players some choice as to items to grind for this year but must also think about grinding goals for next year’s event. Trion have chosen to give players a lot of choice but make most of the items unavailable to the average joe with a full time job, family commitments and a lawn to mow (or chronic illness). I’d rather they released limited items at a price that I could grind and buy all, I can’t want what I don’t know exists. I hate looking at items I can’t afford to buy, I get enough of that in the real world.
If buying all the parade floats is not on your agenda, you might like to preview some of the floats over at RiftScene. Cupcakey has snapped a few screenshots of Laethys, Regulos, Akylios and Crucia to help us decide which float to purchase. While you’re there check out ‘Lumia vs. Dimensions: Round 1‘. Lumia recorded her first foray into dimensions, learning to place, move and resize objects. The video is long at almost 15 minutes but charming. It certainly bought back memories of my first try at dimensions on the Storm Legion beta.

Nice catch getting Lils
I hear you on the cost of carnival items. I feel fortunate that I only care about the lanterns and maybe a couple of horsies costing glass beads, and one mask costing tickets. Plus I’ll do the weekly quest for doubloons to obtain one of the mounts, so my list is pretty short. But I only have 4 straight and 2 sloped lanterns, and one horsie so far, so feel the pinch.
Omagawd I feel hoarding coming on!
